Have you always wanted to be trained in sex therapy?

More and more clients are bringing sexual concerns to therapy, and having the right tools to support them can make all the difference.

All new team members participate in our paid 20-hour sex therapy training, designed to introduce the core concepts and interventions needed to start building competence in this specialty.

Program Includes:
  • 20 hours of sex therapy training that includes lectures, videos, case discussions, and experiential learning
  • Access to Sex Therapy Tools to enhance your practice
  • Case consultation with Amanda to deepen learning
  • Ongoing opportunities for sex therapy training and clinical support

Training Topics Overview

  1. Taking Sex Histories, Assessment, & Diagnosis of Sexual Concerns
  2. Systemic Sex Therapy
  3. Sexual Dysfunctions: Frameworks and Interventions
  4. Working with Diverse Relationship Structures
  5. Advanced sex therapy treatment models/interventions such as: Sensate Focus, The Dual Control Model of Sexual Response, Out of Control Sexual Behavior Model, Good Enough Sex Model, & More!
  6. Core issues in contemporary sex therapy: Pleasure, arousal, sexual values, erotic diversity, sexual shame
  7. Responding to Boundary Violations in Sex Therapy
Throughout the training, cultural responsiveness is emphasized. You will be encouraged to consider how intersecting identities such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and disability influence sexual experiences and therapeutic needs. Affirming and inclusive practice is a core value of our approach, with attention to how systemic oppression and cultural stigma shape access to pleasure, safety, and sexual agency.

Sexual Wellness Institute has been serving clients for over a decade and is proud to offer strong clinical support, training, and a collaborative team environment.
We look forward to hearing from you! Please submit your cover letter and resume to the clinic owner, Amanda Holmberg:
